Faizan J. Siddiqi (2020)

I received my PhD in urban studies and planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (February 2020) where I was a Presidential Fellow. I hold a Master in City Planning from MIT and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Mumbai. I specialize in the study of inequality, planning, international development and law and society. Empirically, my research focuses on land governance, affordable housing, and the politics of rights. Prior to starting graduate work, I worked as a city planning professional in India and consulted with several NGOs as well as the Cities Development Initiative for Asia on issues relating to sustainable transportation planning, urban informality, the right to work, and gender-inclusive development. In 2008, I won the prestigious RIBA Norman Foster Traveling Fellowship Award for my proposal to do comparative research on transportation systems and quality of life for urban residents in Europe, Asia, and South America. I am passionate about cooking, traveling, and skiing.
